School officials in Grand Junction, Colorado finally allowed a nine-year-old girl back in class after they actually banned her for shaving her head to support a friend suffering from cancer.
According to the Daily Mail, Kamryn Renfro made the brave decision to shave her hair off so her friend Delaney Clements, who suffers from the childhood cancer neuroblastoma, wouldn't feel so alone.
KUSA reported that when Renfro went to school on Monday with the new look, she was told to leave because she violated the dress code policy.
"Caprock Academy does have a detailed dress code policy, which was created to promote safety, uniformity, and a non-distracting environment for the school's students. Under this policy, shaved heads are not permitted," said Catherine Norton Breman, President and Chair of Caprock Academy Board of Directors.
Renfro’s mother was shocked that her daughter was told she could not attend her classes. However, after extensive media coverage, school officials came to their senses on Tuesday and allowed her to return.
The school plans to hold a special board of directors meeting to review the incident.
