NBC’s The Voice has brought on Coldplay frontman Chris Martin as an advisor for all the teams – Team Adam, Team Blake, Team Usher and Team Shakira.
When the second phase of the Battle Rounds starts on March 31, Martin will be on hand to help with the decision of who goes through. Battles: Round Two will replace the Knockouts Round.
Executive producer Mark Burnett explained their choice to make the announcement that Martin would be joining the show via Snapchat, saying it’s “very important and very new. ... This is the perfect way for The Voice> to be making an announcement in a very unique way via the place where young Americans are.”
USA Today reports Burnett also called Martin “such an authentic voice in the industry,” adding, "There's a massive level of respect from the singers.”
Coldplay took to Twitter to confirm Martin’s new role on the show.
“Chris is to work with @adamlevine @blakeshelton @usher & @shakira as a Key Adviser on this season's US #TheVoice,” they tweeted.
