This 1996 fantasy film directed by the late Nora Ephron, had Travolta starring as the Archangel Michael, who was sent to Earth to do various tasks, including mending some wounded hearts. Co-starring William Hurt, Bob Hoskins, Andie MacDowell, the late Jean Stapleton and the late Robert Pastorelli, Michael isn’t your typical angel. He smokes, loves sugar and says and does very non-angelic things. Travolta nailed this portrayal of an angel coming to Earth wishing to experience as much as he can while helping fix the lives of two tabloid reporters (Hurt and Pastorelli) and a three times unlucky in love dog trainer/amateur country song writer (MacDowell.) Though it received mostly negative reviews, it was a box office hit and IMO, one of Trravolta’s best performances ever!
