You may not have known that this was actually a cover. The original song was a French song published in 1955 as “Je t'appartiens.” The French lyrics were written by Pierre Delanoe and the English version lyrics by Mann Curtis. Jill Corey released the first English version in 1957. Since then, the song has been covered by countless top artists including Sam and Dave, Andy Williams, Petula Clark, Tom Jones, Elvis Presley, Roberta Flack, Bob Dylan, Willie Nelson, Bruce Springsteen, and so many more.
