10. Read
Reading can be fun if you choose the right book. Between Diary of a Wimpy Kid and The Magic Tree House, there is a book for everyone. Take a quick trip to the library or bookstore the day before it is supposed to snow or get cold. Let the kids pick out a book of their choice.
If the snow day happens upon you before you have time for the kids to pick out a book, grab one of your own (within reason, do not read your children Fifty Shades of Grey) and read it to them. They will feel like little adults and it will be like a family bonding activity.
Or, if you don’t have any books at all, encourage your kids to write their own story. Get a paper and pencil and let them write. Even if your kids hate school, writing the story of their dreams could be fun.
