Showtime President David Nevins told reporters today that he would attempt a Dexter spinoff if lead actor Michael C. Hall was involved in the show.
According to the The Hollywood Reporter, Nevins said at the Television Critics Association’s winter press tour, "We continue to talk about it. If we were to do it, we have to have a very good reason to do it. It has to feel like it's a new show. I'm not interested in doing it if it's just a continuation. If we were to do it, I would only do it with Michael."
Fans had mixed feelings to the way that Dexter Morgan’s story ended. At the end of the series, he faked his own death to start a new life in Oregon. Nevins said that he would want a spinoff to have new concepts. It’s unclear whether Nevins would hope to welcome back Hall’s co-stars, including Lauren Velez, David Zayas, Angel Juan Marcos Batista, and Jimmy Smits.
Dexter was licensed to Neflix in 2013. The show made its basic-cable premiere on NuvoTV, a channel that offers English language programming for Latino audiences, according to Variety.
