If it can work for Kanye West, it can work for Phil Robertson.
Kanye has compared himself to Steve Jobs, Nelson Mandela and Jesus Christ himself. While Kanye has acted like a complete and total narcissistic jerk, he has kept his name in the news long enough to receive attention for a new daughter, a new record and his relationship with Kim Kardashian.
Robertson is kind of like Kanye. They both say outrageous things and still stay in the limelight. They are both talented in their respective fields but they have said things to distract away from that.
I feel like Robertson can pull off comparing himself to the pope. It will be incredibly offensive but, hey, go big or go home. And Robertson isn’t going home anytime soon.
