This 1993 crime thriller was based on the John Grisham novel of the same name. Washington starred opposite Julia Roberts, Tony Goldwyn, Stanley Tucci, Sam Shepard, John Heard, John Lithgow, James B. Sikking and Cynthia Nixon. Washington played a reporter for the fictional newspaper The Washington Herald. He is contacted by Darby Shaw (Roberts) to help her prove the brief she wrote about who had two Supreme Court justices assassinated is true. Washington and Roberts were an exhilarating pair as they didn’t rest for one second during the whole movie in their search for the truth all while trying to avoid getting killed in the process.
