This 2004 biographical drama had DiCaprio playing the reclusive Howard Hughes. Another film directed by Martin Scorsese, it co-starred Cate Blanchett, Kate Beckinsale, John C. Reilly, Alec Baldwin, Jude Law and Alan Alda among others. The film depicted the life of the aviation pioneer during the 1920s to 1947 when he became a successful film producer and aviation baron but then became emotionally unstable due to obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD). DiCaprio’s performance as the once vibrant, later withdrawn Hughes was praised by critics, who were enthralled by his depiction of this peculiar yet brilliant man.
