In this 1993 drama, DiCaprio played the role that made Hollywood stand up and take notice of this young actor. Starring opposite Johnny Depp, DiCaprio played Arnie Grape, the mentally challenged younger brother of Depp’s character, Gilbert, whom he cared for along with their morbidly obese mother. DiCaprio’s portrayal of this fun-loving yet stunted teen showcased DiCaprio’s dramatic range as an actor and was a preview for Hollywood of what he would do in the future.
