8. Striptease
This 1996 crime drama had Moore starring as a single mother/stripper. It was also Burt Reynolds’ comeback movie and featured Ving Rhames, Armand Assante and Robert Patrick. The film was based on the novel of the same name by Carl Hiaasen. Moore starred as Erin Grant, a single mother, who stripped in order to win custody of her young daughter (played by her real life daughter, Rumer) from her sleazy ex-husband (Patrick). In the process, she inadvertently got involved with a corrupt and kinky Congressman (Reynolds.) The movie was abhorred by critics but, IMO, Moore gave a believable performance as a woman desperate to win custody of her daughter from her deadbeat ex-husband and had the brains to outwit an oversexed, corrupt Congressman to reach her goal.
