9. St. Elmo's Fire
This 1985 romantic "dramedy" featured Moore co-starring with Andrew McCarthy, Ally Sheedy, Rob Lowe, Emilio Estevez, Judd Nelson and Mare Winningham. The plot centered on a group of friends who had just graduated from Georgetown University, their adjustment to life after college and adult responsibility. Moore played Jules Van Patten, the “party girl” of the group. Moore gave a marvelous performance as a girl looking for love in all the wrong places, most notably in an affair with a married man. Friendship and solidarity are shown as Jules’ friends tried to convince her to end the hopeless affair. She ended up okay, thanks to her friends!
