Top 10 Bryan Adams Songs

4. “Summer of '69”

Another track off of 1983’s Reckless, it peaked at #5 on the Billboard Hot 100 and was a commercial success worldwide. It peaked at #42 on the UK Singles Chart and remained there for four consecutive weeks. It’s an upbeat rock song that has Adams singing about recalling the best summer of his life, the summer of 1969. He sings about how his band came together, then later broke up and the love he experienced, then later lost, with lines like, “Me and some guys from school/Had a band and we tried real hard./Jimmy quit, Jody got married/I should've known we'd never get far/ Oh, when I look back now/That summer seemed to last forever/And if I had the choice/Yeah, I'd always wanna be there/Those were the best days of my life… Spent my evening's down at the drive-in/And that's when I met you, yeah/Standin' on your mama's porch/You told me that you'd wait forever/Oh, and when you held my hand/I knew that it was now or never.” Everyone has a time in their lives they look back on fondly and wish they were back there again. Adams captured that feeling in this infectiously catchy song.
