9. “Run to You”
Off his fourth studio album, 1984’s Reckless, “Run to You” was recorded for the 1983 romantic film A Night in Heaven, which starred Christopher Atkins and Lesley Ann Warren. It was Adams' first No. 1 hit and reached #6 on the Billboard Hot 100, the top 20 on the Canadian singles chart and remained there for seven weeks. In the song, Adams sings about yearning to be with a girl who isn’t his girlfriend. The lyrics speak of how his girlfriend is a great person but how he’s cheating on her with another girl, who he burns for. The melody is upbeat and catchy as Adams croons lines like, “She says her love for me could never die/But that'd change if she ever found out about you and I…I'm gonna run to you /I'm gonna run to you/Cause when the feeling's right I'm gonna run all night/I'm gonna run to you/She's got a heart of gold she'd never let me down/But you're the one that always turns me on/You keep me comin' 'round.”
