The iconic Monty Python troupe announced Thursday what exactly they had in mind for their reunion.
The five remaining members, Eric Idle, John Cleese, Terry Gilliam, Terry Jones and Michal Palin, said during a press conference in London that Monty Python would be reuniting for a stage show in July 2014 at the O2 Arena, reports The Hollywood Reporter. The sixth member, Graham Chapman, passed away in 1989 of cancer.
The show would feature "a modern, topical, Pythoneseque twist" on some of their most famous sketches. One of the Pythons said, "a little comedy, a lot of pathos, music and a tiny [bit] of ancient sex" should be expected at the show.
Cleese said, "The main [risk] is that the audience knows the script better than we do" and noted they would likely do their dead parrot sketch and others.
Palin said that the show would be filmed and he would hope it would be aired on TV, but the BBC owns rights for any Monty Python shows. They also noted that a movie was discussed, but said they were too busy with individual projects.
As previously announced, Jones confirmed to the BBC on Tuesday that they would indeed be reuniting for the first time in several decades. There have been several attempts before, but none that seriously threatened to come together.
Idle also tweeted on Monday that there would be a press conference regarding Monty Python, but didn't go into any details.
