The story of Miles Davis is set to be brought to life on the big screen. The upcoming biopic will be called, Kill the Trumpet Player and will star Don Cheadle, as Davis, Ewan McGregor and Zoe Saldana.
Billboard reported that Cheadle will also be making his debut as a director. The screenplay for Kill the Trumpet Player was written by Cheadle and Steven Baigelman.
Kill the Trumpet Player will focus on a few dangerous days in the life of Davis. Davis at one time conspired with a Rolling Stone writer in order to steal back his music; the Rolling Stone writer will be played by Ewan McGregor. Zoe Saldana will play Miles’ former wife, Frances Davis.
USA Today added that BiFrost Pictures is behind the production. Daniel Wagner, principal for BiForst spoke about Cheadle, saying that this was the role that he was born to play and that Cheadle was one of our generation’s greatest actors.
No release date has been set for Kill the Trumpet Player.
