Arcade Fire’s ‘Reflektor’ tops Billboard 200 in first week

Arcade Fire’s latest album Reflektor has debuted in the No. 1 spot on the Billboard 200.

According to Billboard, Reflektor sold 140,000 copies in the album’s first week, down from 2010’s The Suburbs, which sold 156,000.

Reflektor is Arcade Fire’s first album on a major label, as previously they were on Alternative Distribution Alliance, which is Warner Music’s indie label.

Their album dethroned Katy Perry’s PRISM, which fell 68 percent to 92,000 copies sold.

Entertainment Weekly reports that Kelly Clarkson’s first Christmas album, Wrapped in Red came in at No. 3 on the charts with 70,000 sold. The fourth spot was claimed by another holiday album, this by the Duck Dynasty Robertson family. Duck the Halls: A Robertson Family Christmas sold 69,000 copies.

Similarly to the last time Arcade Fire topped the charts, it was taken down by Eminem and it looks like next week will follow the same trajectory. The Marshall Mathers LP 2 is tracking at between 700,000 and 750,000 sold copies for its first week.
