That was quick. Three episodes in and Fox has decided to renew its new supernatural drama Sleepy Hollow for a second season. It is the first new show of the 2013-2014 TV season to get renewed.
“The show has proven to be a risk well worth taking – it’s a conceptual blast unlike anything else on television and it all holds together with inventive writing and a fantastic cast,” Fox Entertainment Chairman Kevin Reilly said in a statement. “I can’t wait for fans to experience what else is in store for this fall and even more of this wild ride into Season Two.”
Sleepy Hollow stars Nicole Beharie as Lt. Abbie Mills, who is working with a mysteriously revived Ichabod Crane, played by Tom Mison, to catch the Headless Horseman and to save the world from supernatural forces. Lyndie Greenwood is guest starring in this week’s episode, which centers on Ichabod and Abbie trying to find her estranged sister.
The show kicked off the new season on Sept. 16 with 10 million viewers and a 3.4 18-49 rating. Fox says that the premiere episode has drawn a total of 22 million viewers since it was posted on Fox.com, Hulu.com and Video On Demand.

Sleepy Hollow was created by Alex Kurtzman, Roberto Orci, Phillip Iscove and Len Wiseman. The executive producers are Kurtzman, Orci, Wiseman, Mark Goffman, Ken Olin and Heather Kadin. New episodes air Mondays at 9 p.m.
