Actor Alec Baldwin is joining the MSNBC team and the network has finally set a premiere date for the show, which will air every Friday night. The network also issued a promo for the show, with Ed Schultz promising that the show will ‘restore balance’ to the left-leaning network.
“Responding to criticism, MSNBC has turned to a man who can restore balance to an unbalanced network,” Schultz, who has his own show at 5p.m. weekdays on the network, says, reports EW. “A man who will address the great issues of our time while keeping his emotions in check. Above all, a man who values reason over passion and provides a soothing voice for these troubled times.”
It turns out that the person he’s talking about is the former 30 Rock actor, who is known for not keeping his emotions “in check,” especially with the paparazzi.
Baldwin was officially named an MSNBC host earlier this month, after weeks of speculation. Since then, he has ended his WNYC podcast Here’s The Thing, in which he chatted with various celebrities and newsmakers.

“After two seasons of my WNYC podcast, I’ve developed a fondness for hosting a show that involved talking with smart, talented, and engaging people in every imaginable field,” Baldwin said earlier this month. “I’m grateful to MSNBC for helping me bring a similar show to television.”
