3. Alex & Emma: – This 2003 romantic comedy paired Wilson with a 2nd generation comedic ingénue, Kate Hudson. Daughter of comedienne extraordinaire Goldie Hawn, Hudson’s performance was light-hearted and fun opposite Wilson. Wilson’s character, Alex, who was an author, must repay a $100,000 to the Cuban mafia or else... So, he hired Emma, (Hudson) a stenographer, to type up his novel as he dictated it to her. In flashbacks, we see Wilson and Hudson play multiple roles and in the process Alex and Emma fell in love. Though it was panned by critics, I felt Wilson and Hudson were a delightful pairing as each fused their characters with inner depth and humor. Here, Wilson showed he could do the lighter more romantic side of comedy and do it well!
