4. Nine Months
Grant played a man afraid of commitment in this 1995 romantic comedy. Co-starring opposite Julianne Moore, Joan Cusack, Tom Arnold and Jeff Goldblum, Grant played Samuel Faulkner, a child psychologist in a seemingly idyllic relationship with ballet teacher Rebecca Taylor (Moore). Yet, their sublime life got turned upside-down when Rebecca became pregnant and Samuel got spooked. Seeing Grant trying to cope with his character’s impending fatherhood, getting cold feet about staying in the relationship and other worries gave a touch of real-life drama to the movie, which Grant handled with his usual finesse. Yet, in the end, after numerous pep talks with Goldblum’s character, poignant scenes with Moore mixed in with sidesplitting physical comedy with Arnold’s character, Samuel fell in love with his unborn son, married Rebecca and the movie ended with them as one big happy family!
