Grant played mild-mannered travel bookshop owner, William Thacker, in Notting Hill, England, in this 1999 romantic comedy. Julia Roberts played Anna Scott, a Hollywood superstar who wandered into Thacker’s shop and, from then on, their chemistry flew off the silver screen. It was the ultimate fantasy. A normal everyday guy falling in love with a famous Hollywood actress and she with him. But their romance was fraught with problems, the constant paparazzi surrounding Roberts’ character and other misunderstandings. Through it all, though, Thacker’s group of ragtag friends did all they could to help the couple, and audiences fell in love with them as they fell in love with Grant and Roberts' pairing. Grant’s charm combined with Roberts’ undeniable appeal made them a match made in cinematic heaven. This movie is heralded as a romantic comedy classic and one of both Grant and Roberts’ best films and, as you can see, I’m inclined to agree!
