A scathing obituary of Marianne Theresa Johnson-Reddick revealing years of abuse has gone viral.
Johnson-Reddick died in a Reno nursing home on Aug. 30 and her daughter, Katherine Reddick, decided to write an obit revealing the true nature of her mother, The Associated Press reports. Katherine and her brother, Patrick, were removed from their mothers care and placed in an orphanage when they were kids.
The obit opens, "On behalf of her children who she abrasively exposed to her evil and violent life, we celebrate her passing from this earth and hope she lives in the after-life reliving each gesture of violence, cruelty and shame that she delivered on her children."
Katherine, now a psychology consultant for a school district outside Austin, Texas, wanted others to know what their early life was like with Johnson-Reddick.
"Everyone she met, adult or child, was tortured by her cruelty and exposure to violence, criminal activity, vulgarity, and hatred of the gentle or kind human spirit."
According to USA Today, the obit was submitted through a self-service online portal for the Reno Gazette-Journal and since being published has gone viral and has made national news.
The AP notes that Johnson-Reddick had eight children, and six of them were taken from her custody after regular beatings, occasionally with a metal-tipped belt, and other abuse in 1963.
Patrick told The AP, "Everything in there was completely true." He also said she was a "wicked, wicked witch."
