Paul McCartney sent two Beatles fans a letter for a recording they made 50 years ago, but was only recently discovered.
Lyn Phillips and Barbara Benzant sent the Beatles a tape in 1963 when the band was playing at the London theatre, BBC News reports. The tape turned up at a car sale and it was played on The One Show.
McCartney wrote to the two women, saying "thanks very much for the lovely tape. It finally got through, better late than never."
The two were all of 17 and 19 when they recorded the message and said on the tape, "This dream is just to come round the back and see you, but I don't suppose that'll ever happen."
"But we can always live in hope, can't we?" they added.
In a recent interview with Mojo magazine, the 71-year-old singer said that music got him through tougher times, Express notes.
"Going away when you're really upset about something and putting it in your song... you come out of that cupboard, toilet or basement and go, 'I feel better.' You've exorcised the demon. So it's one of the great joys of songwriting."
McCartney says he enjoys the feeling he gets after a creative writing session saying, "It's a great feeling."
His upcoming album New is out Oct. 14.
