Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson has lined up one of his next projects, a film version of the 1980s series The Fall Guy. The project will be directed by McG.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the project has been in the works for years, first at Warner Bros. and then DreamWorks with Nicholas Cage to star at one point. But now it is at Hyde Park entertainment, which will finance the current incarnation. The current script was written by Zack Stentz and Ashley Edward Miller.
Walter Parkesand Laurie MacDonald hold the rights to The Fall Guy and will co-produce with Hyde Park’s Ashok Amritraj. TheWrap reports that WWE Entertainment is also onboard to co-finance.
McG is in talks to direct. His last film was 2012’s This Means War with Chris Pine and Reese Witherspoon. His other credits include Terminator Salvation and was an executive producer on NBC’s cult series Chuck.
The Fall Guy ran on ABC from 1981 to 1986. It starred Lee Majors as a stuntman who also did bounty hunter work.
Johnson has become a go-to actor for Hollywood action projects and is currently working on Hercules: The Thracian Wars. He was last seen in Pain & Gain and Fast & Furious 6.
