Characterized as the “ideal” American family, the Cleaver family holds an iconic status for their television family suburban image. Starring the mischievous son Jerry Mathers as Theadore “The Beaver” Cleaver, and Tony Dow as Beaver’s brother Wally, June and Ward Cleaver – played by Barbara Billingsley and Hugh Beaumont - tried to instill good, old fashioned American values in their children and the rest of mid-20th century America. You laughed and learned alongside Beaver on his escapades at home, school, and around the neighborhood. You learned how hard work could pay off and were introduced the typical suburban marriage, an idea that would change greatly as the sitcom family transformed.
