2. Soapdish: This hilarious 1991 romantic comedy revolved around the crazy world of a daytime drama. Downey played a television producer on a long running soap opera, conniving against its longtime star, a Susan Lucci-esque type character played brilliantly by Sally Field. Downey worked off Field as well as veterans Kevin Kline, Whoppi Goldberg and others with finesse and boundless satire. His scheming antics were made even funnier by Downey’s eccentric interpretation of the over-sexed television producer trying desperately to bed one of the soap opera’s cast members. IMO, this was Downey at his comedic best!
