8. Chaplin: This 1992 biopic earned Downey an Academy Award nomination for Best Actor for his portrayal of silent film star Charlie Chaplin. The film chronicled the British comedian’s life in flashbacks as Downey’s Chaplin relayed memories to the fictional editor of his autobiography, played by Sir Anthony Hopkins. IMO, Downey deserved the Academy Award but lost it to Al Pacino for his performance in Scent of a Woman. But, with Downey’s acting flair, I have no doubt another role will come to him where he will take home the statue!
