10. The Big Year
This 2011 comedy had Black surrounded by some of comedy’s biggest names, most notably Steve Martin along with John Cleese, Kevin Pollak, Anthony Anderson, Jim Parsons and Owen Wilson. The film was based on the nonfiction book “The Big Year: A Tale of Man, Nature and Fowl Obsession,” which was written by Mark Obmascik. The film followed three amateur birders (Black, Martin and Wilson,) who each set out to achieve a Big Year, which is a competition among birders to see who can identify the most different species of birds in North America in a calendar. Though the film was a box office failure, Black held his own with comic great Martin, which isn’t an easy feat by any means!
