2. Gulliver's Travels
In this 2010 family comedy, which was very loosely based on Part One of the 18th-century novel of the same name by Jonathan Swift, though the film takes place in the present, Black played the title character, Lemuel Gulliver. Trapped in a go nowhere job in the mailroom of a New York newspaper, Black’s Gulliver convinced his crush journalist Darcy Silverman, played by Amanda Peet, to let him write a report about his supposed world travels saying his dream was to become a writer but he plagiarized his adventures from other publications. But, Darcy was fooled and sent Gulliver on an assignment to investigate the Bermuda Triangle but his ship got caught in a storm and he ended up in the world of Lilliput, which was filled with “little people.” Black’s Gulliver became a hero to the people of Lilliput and Black’s own spin on the famed character gave the story a fresh perspective.
