Romance: Zack Mayo (Richard Gere) and Paula Pokrifki (Debra Winger)
Mayo works to become an aviator, while dealing with tough love from his sergeant and his relationship with new girlfriend, Pokrifki. The two learn to love each other as Mayo gets an attitude adjustment, largely for the reason of changing his life direction to be with her. Plus, what is more ‘80s than the finale with full naval whites and “Up Where We Belong” playing into our hearts.
