Kate Hudson talked about the royal baby and the pandemonium that ensued before Kate Middleton gave birth, as she lives in London with her fiancé Matthew Bellamy and her two kids.

The actress said it was close to impossible not to follow the birth because the media coverage was “insane.”

Us Weekly reports Hudson appeared on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno on Wednesday and said, “It was insane, actually. You can't help but follow it since it's on every news channel like that's all you saw ...that was the longest labor on news. It literally was full coverage."

She even told a story about Prince William and his brother Prince Harry staying at her family’s home in Colorado back when they were children.

I remember we were all in LA and they were staying with their mom [Princess Diana] at the time…and we get this phone call at the house,” she told Leno. "And the phone rang, my dad [Kurt Russell] answers it, gets on the phone…sure enough, I think it was Prince William calling my dad to ask if he could use the ATVs, the four wheeler things."

When Russell, who’s been with Hudson’s mom Goldie Hawn for decades but never married her, got off the phone "[he] said, 'now that's a really well raised boy.' That was pretty cool...that's as close as I got!"

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge named their newborn son George Alexander Louis.
