Ryan Anderson, the NBA player former Bachelor contestant Gia Allemand was dating before her death on Wednesday, has spoken out, thanking fans for their support. Friends of Allemand have also spoken with the press, recalling her insecurities and trouble in her relationship with Anderson.

Allemand was hospitalized Tuesday, with no reason given. But when she died Wednesday afternoon, the circumstances of her hospitalization came to light. She had apparently attempted suicide by hanging. Anderson was the one who discovered her hanging and called 911.

Anderson gave People magazine a statement, calling Allemand “the most beautiful person I knew inside and out and she always smiled and made everyone else around her smile.”

He added, “She had such an amazing impact on my life and anyone that knew her was blessed. All I have left is to cherish those memories we made together and help perpetuate the many values, faith and love that we shared.”

Reid Rosenthal, who was also a Bachelor contestant, told Fox News that she “could tell there was some insecurity going,” adding, “I was not 100 percent surprised. Nothing surprises me anymore.”

Another friend told The New York Post, “I’m not that shocked, because of her ups and downs...She fell victim to her own perfection and they were having problems.”

Another source told Us Weekly that she was thinking about moving to New York City from New Orleans, since she believed the relationship with Anderson was ending.

Others who knew her are using Twitter to share their good memories of Allemand. You can check out our list of Twitter reactions here.
