Casper Smart, who is currently dating Jennifer Lopez, said that his girlfriend is definitely to American Idol.
When asked by E! News if J Lo was going back to Idol, Smart just said “Yes.” The site was interviewing Smart as he gets ready for his own new show, A Step Away.
E! believes that Smart thought that Fox made an announcement, but the network hasn’t. The closest it came to confirming the news came when Fox head Kevin Reilly said, “Jennifer has been a close part of the show all along. Obviously, she's even been on it since she left the panel, so there have been discussions there.” However, he said there was no deal yet.
Since then, it was reported that she was inching closer to signing the dotted line. The Hollywood Reporter even suggested that will.i.am may join Idol since he has a good relationship with Lopez.
There have also been rumors that former Idol contestants like Jennifer Hudson or Adam Lambert may be considered.
Ryan Seacrest told E! News earlier this month that an announcement on the Idol judging panel will come soon. Fans only know that Keith Urban will definitely be back and that Nicki Minaj, Mariah Carey and Randy Jackson are not returning.
Idol’s new season will not start until January 2014.
