9. “My Favorite Girl”
Off their monster hit 1988 album Hangin’ Tough, “My Favorite Girl” was probably what every pre-teen girl dreamed of their favorite New Kid singing to them. The sweet sentiments conveyed in the lyrics of this song include, “My favorite girl, oh, she’s my favorite girl/You walked into my life, your love was so new/And nothing will ever change my feelings for you/Well, you were so far away, now I am close to you, girl/So let us run away, our heart that’s waiting will stay… Girl, nothing will make us wrong, I know our love is too strong/Let’s leave the rest behind, our dreams ask what we will find.” Oh, how many young girls, myself included, dreamed of running away with one of the boys. Personally, I could never choose between Jordan, Joey or Donnie as my favorite New Kid, but I’m sure many other girls my age had that exact same dilemma, LOL!
