6. The Waterboy
In this 1998 sports comedy, Sandler played the endearing waterboy for a college football team who discovers his incredible tackling ability and becomes a member of the team. Sandler’s Bobby Boucher, while a tad slow, was completely lovable as he tried to listen to his “Mama,” played by the incomparable Kathy Bates, but still wanted to pursue his dreams. Henry Winkler as Coach Klein, urging Boucher on was sweet and endearing. One of Sandler’s first movies, The Waterboy was a huge success and cemented Sandler as a big screen comedic genius!
