There have been teasers released for Lindsay Lohan and James Deen’s The Canyons, written by Bret Easton Ellis and directed by Paul Schrader, but the first official trailer has now been released.
In it, Lohan’s character Tara wonders what the future of movies will be, and the camera pans to shots of abandoned theaters. It’s much less sultry than the teasers that have been released and goes in a completely different direction than the film noir vibe they gave.
EW notes we get the first look at Gus Van Sant, who also stars in the film. The music for the trailer also shows a trendier side of the film, much like other recent trailers like The Bling Ring.
The film centers on Tara, who is an aspiring actress, and the relationship she has with Christian, a producer. Its set in Los Angeles, which is a key component of the film.
It’s been a long road for the makers of The Canyons, as they’ve been plagued with controversy since the onset and a NY Times profile was even written about the antics of Lohan while filming.
Lohan will attend the premiere in Italy in early August, right after she gets released from rehab.
