Leighton Meester will not appear in 'Veronica Mars' movie

Leighton Meester will not reprise her role in the recently announced Veronica Mars movie.

According to The Hollywood Gossip, the news comes after creator Rob Thomas announced the scheduling conflicts would keep Meester from reprising her as Carrie Bishop. Her role will be filled by Twin Sister lead singer Andrea Estella.

Sadly, Leighton was doing a different movie at the same time on the wrong coast," Thomas explained via Kickstarter. "In the end, she was unavailable."
Continuing, Thomas explained, “One of the reasons I wanted Leighton, beyond her talent/beauty/history in the show, was that we needed a performer who could sing in this important role.Once it became evident that we couldn't make Leighton's schedule work, I decided to cast someone from a band that I already wanted in the movie."

The film became possible after fans went to Kickstarter to make donations to prove to production that there is still a strong fan following.

The casting has already added the likes of Tina Majorino and Ryan Hansen.
The film is slated for a 2014 release date.
