James Gandolfini leaves $50,000 to friend with autistic son

Details of Sopranos actor James Gandolfini prove that the late actor was a generous man. Gandolfini left $50,000 to college pal Doug Katz, whose son is autistic.

Gandolfini’s will was published online Wednesday revealing that the 51-year-old father of two left a majority of his estate to his son Michael, 13. Gandolfini left his secretary and personal assistant $200,000 each, his wife and daughter a significant sum as well.

Upon receiving the generous gift, Katz tells The New York Post , “I was shocked. He got him nutritional supplements, anything Andrew needed to help him lead a better life. Jim sponsored gymnastics for my son.”

“He always said, ‘How can we help? How can we make it better?’ And none of it was lip service,” Katz continued. “I’d rather have Jim alive than his money. You could never meet a nicer guy in the world. He was the glue that kept us together.”

Gandolfini was laid to rest last week
