Top 10: Father/Daughter & Father/Son relationships in media

3. Nathan (James Lafferty) and Jamie Scott (Jackson Brundage) in One Tree Hill

Nathan did not have the best example of a father growing up. Dan Scott was pushy and always trying to compete with his son to see who was better, because he was trying to mold him into the basketball star he never was. Dan also tried to always manipulate Nathan to not necessarily do the right thing, and consistently tried sabotaging his relationship with his wife Haley. In fact, Dan was a poison to everyone around him. But when Nathan became a father to young Jamie, he didn’t let history repeat itself. He taught his son the values Dan never even bothered trying to instill in him. Because he did the parenting thing the right way, Jamie wasn’t destined to grow up and make the same mistakes that Nathan did inevitably make along the way, or any of the ones Dan always made.
