8. Deathstroke
This guy isn't as well known outside of the niche comics community as the rest of this list. So why does he make it? Mainly because of Brad Meltzer's 2004 miniseries Identity Crisis, in which Deathstroke takes on a large portion of the Justice League solo. He's kind of an anti-Batman in the same way that Zod is an anti-Superman. And nerds are uber-excited about his scheduled appearance in the upcoming video game Arkham Origins.
