Philip Seymour Hoffman checked himself into rebab to detox following a week long use of heroin. The actor noted that he realized that after 23 years of sobriety, he needed help.
It's been a year since Hoffman's heroin use, but the Catching Fire actor has opted to open up his struggles explaining to TMZ that the troubles started with prescription pills and eventually escalated to a week-long bout with snorting heroin before the award winning actor realized he needed to seek help.
Hoffman checked into the detox facility on the East Coast for 10 days, checking out just last Friday. The Copote actor expresses his gratitude to "a great group of friends and family."
Currently Hoffman is back to work filming in Europe.
Following his role as Plutarch Heavensbee in The Hunger Games sequel which hits theaters in November, Hoffman will star in the Anton Corbjin directed film A Most Wanted Man alongside Robin Wright and Rachel McAdams as well as God's Pocket.
