MiKandi, a developer that specializes in adult entertainment apps for mobile devices, got its hands on a pair of Google Glass. So, what’s the first thing the company does? Announces a porn app.
And what does Google do just hours after it hears about it? The company banned all pornography apps from its brand new device.
On May 22, MiKandi said that it got a hold of a Google Glass device and immediately announced work on Tits & Glass, which it billed as the first porn app. According to CNN, the app featured videos recorded using Google Glass and was prepared to expand from first-person videos to footage that showed two other users interacting. But just as MiKandi was preparing to launch the app, Google added a new section to the Glass Developers Policy.
“We don't allow Glassware content that contains nudity, graphic sex acts, or sexually explicit material,” the new section reads. “Google has a zero-tolerance policy against child pornography. If we become aware of content with child pornography, we will report it to the appropriate authorities and delete the Google Accounts of those involved with the distribution.”
MiKandi claims that this language was only recently added over the weekend. The company stressed on its blog that it went over the terms and found that the app did not violate any policy until the new section was added. However, they did point out that they have worked on the app to make sure it follows the guidelines.
“We may be a group of nerds and hackers, but we’re nice-guy nerds and hackers. From the get-go, we said we wanted to play within Google’s terms and help push this technology forward. We just think sexy glasses deserve sexy content,” Tuesday’s post from CEO Jesse Adams read.
“We are going to have to be really creative. There are tasteful and artful things we can do," Adams told ABC News. “We still really want to play around the idea of having Glass users share the content, but we need to figure out ways for users to share photos, whether they are just sexy or clothed.”
Google has been very strict with its new device, even banning users from re-selling their devices online.
