2 – Jason Chen
Simplicity is truly about subtracting the obvious and adding the meaningful (quote from John Maeda), and Jason Chen has captured the essence of “Clarity” in his beautifully simple and rich rendition of the song. Taking it back to acoustic instrumental roots, Jason uses a guitar arpeggio as the sole vehicle for the direction of his performance, and his simple vocals lead the search for “clarity”. Keeping short, simple and sweet, Jason has truly captured “clarity” in it’s simple nature, a feature we tend to overlook when covering songs and performing lyrics, that we shouldn’t always force the song through our voices to stand out from the crowd, but that sometimes we are the small voices in the crowds that give meaning to song itself, revealing to us a deeper “clarity”. And for that, we thank you Jason.
