Granted, guys have since the recent decades have found some comfort in utilizing their higher ranges, including falsetto, what this past American Idol season eight top seven contestant does breaks beyond barriers that only certain artists such as Frank Ocean have had such confidence in breaking, and that is emphasizing a strong meaning in the falsetto range. Anoop Desai uses a very bass interlude to underlie the entire song, something very brave compared to the others who have used piano, guitar or both; placing heavy emphasis on the vocals, this song requires the communication of the message through heavy usage of this sole vocal instrument our bodies naturally produce. Anoop resonates a certain integrity in his vulnerability that sets him apart from the rest, but still holds firmly to a strong foundation when his search for “clarity” is grounded. For bravery and courage to break outside of the comfort zone to convey “clarity”, we thank you Anoop.
