4 – Jayne Rio
Can you hear the longing just in her breathing alone? Sure, the start could have been a little more softer and smoother to add to her altogether effect and create a rising momentum, however, there’s a strong sense of longing in her vocal tone and styling of this song. Her voice powers the surge to find the answers to the questions she uniquely highlights in the verses, and retains a sharp smoothness unafraid to strike to find her “clarity”, but also expresses that she knows how to control her direction and power. She holds a hidden sorrowness to the lyrics, and uses the piano only to accentuate her longing. Instead of highlighting the songs meaning, she brings the song into her own vocal and musical realm and brings her own sense of “clarity” to the song.
