6 – Roxanne Emery
Accentuating the use of the piano and implementing it as a significantly vital role in this version, Roxanne Emery reminds us of very few who use this soft-spoken ballad style, such as Elizaveta and Julie Fowlis with a hint of Sarah MacLachlan and possibly Sara Bareilles. This piano acoustic ballad sheds a very 1980’s light onto this song. Roxanne’s vocals remain a tad bit a mystery, but I personally think this adds to the “un-clarity” of this song, a lost innocent girl looking to be found, and when she finds, she loses it very quickly. It sounds as if she’s already lost, but for an individual self-revelation, she sings this lamentation.
