3. Arlene (Helen Hunt) and Trevor (Haley Joel Osment) McKinney in Pay it Forward; 2000
Though at first, Arlene is clearly a bit too absorbed in her own life, she becomes a much better mother to her son as the movie, and his scheme of “paying it forward,” progress forward. Her ability to be a good mom is best seen when she finally kicks Trevor’s abusive and alcoholic father to the curb for good.
