The Top 10 Mother/Daughter and Mother/Son Relationships in TV and Film

1. Lorelei (Lauren Graham) and Rory (Alexis Bledel) Gilmore in Gilmore Girls; 2000-2007

When I think of the best mother-daughter duo in television history, I automatically think of Rory and Lorelei. Lorelei is more than a hip, fun, young mother who had Rory when she was just a teenager. She’s also the most supportive person in her daughter’s life. Everything she does in life is an unselfish attempt at making Rory’s life better--from moving to the small town of Stars Hollow, Connecticut, to sending her to the best private high school so she could get the best education possible, everything was about her daughter’s well-being. And it all paid off in spades: Rory not only graduated as valedictorian and got into three Ivy League schools, she wound up going to Yale, and became an even smarter adult as she grew up. And no doubt, if networks wanted to look into the relationship between Rory and her own daughter one day, they would see a relationship which mirrors the one she had with her own mother--the absolute strongest of strong mother-daughter bonds.
