6. Deforestation
Trees provide habitats for many species in this world. Without them, much of our lands would be barren or lack diversity, which is not good for the land sustainability. Every tree that is cut down releases its stored carbon dioxide that it accumulates over its years of growth. The older the tree is, the more carbon dioxide released, which is damaging to the atmosphere. Deforestation is responsible for approximately 20 percent of all greenhouse gas emissions. Also, trees provide an escape from the urban heat island effect, in which the temperature of cities and buildings are hotter than the surrounding forestry and natural splendor. This phenomenon is bad because it contributes to global warming.
